Dr Ali Uthuman
Consultant Physician
Ali is a general physician with a particular focus on cardiogeriatrics – a specialised field of medicine focusing on optimising both heart health and overall health and wellbeing in older patients. Ali earned his MBBS and MD in Medicine from Sri Lanka, alongside MRCP (UK) and MRCP (Geriatric Medicine) qualifications. He is also a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh (FRCPEdin).
Working closely with cardiologist Dr. Jennifer Coller, Ali played a pivotal role in establishing the Rapid Access Atrial Fibrillation Clinic at Goulburn Valley Health, ensuring timely and high-quality care for patients with the condition. This innovative clinic has been instrumental in improving outcomes for patients with atrial fibrillation in the region.
Ali also has extensive experience managing elderly patients, including those in residential aged care facilities, conducting comprehensive geriatric and cognitive assessments to deliver personalized management plans to optimize patient care.
His particular interest lies in managing elderly patients with complex medical issues – such as those with
- significant frailty
- dementia
- orthostatic hypotension
- conduction system disease
- angina
- heart failure
Ali consults fortnightly on Saturdays at the Shepparton Regional Hub at 588 Wyndham St, Shepparton.
